OLDEST POLO PLAYER

Tan Sri Dato Seri M. Mahadevan (born September 9, 1929), who started riding at the age of four, is the oldest polo player in Southeast Asia. The 77-yearold psychiatrist began playing under the tutelage of the late Sultan Abu Bakar of Pahang in 1948.




LONGEST SERVING HEADMASTER

Started his career as a school teacher in 1933 at the age of 21, Datuk Sim Mow Yu was appointed headmaster of SRJK (C) Ping Ming, Malacca in 1945 at the age of 33. He served for 57 years before retiring in 2002 at the age of 90. Sim was conferred the title of “Datuk” for his commendable breakthrough in the
field of education.

PHARMACIST


Chong Ngiap Lye (born September 30, 1922), established the country’s first pharmacy, People’s Pharmacy, in Melaka in 1952. As the Managing Director, Chong still prepares and dispenses medicines.


LONGEST SERVING SPORTS OFFICIAL

Jesu Maria Selvam, 64 is the Longest Serving Sports Official from 1962 to present. For his services, he was bestowed the respective awards by Yang Di Pertuan Besar, Negeri Sembilan which are the Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (PJK) in 1983 and the Pingat Khidmat Lama (PKL) in 2003.




OLDEST TO CYCLE AROUND PENINSULAR MALAYSIA

60 years old ex-army warrant officer Abdul Ghafar Abdul Razak cycled 1,855 km across Peninsular Malaysia from August 14-31, 2003. He commenced his
journey at Dataran SUK, Ipoh and ended it at Seri Manjung, Perak.



OLDEST MAN TO CLIMB MOUNT KINABALU

Wong Sai Kow, became the oldest man to climb Mount Kinabalu in 1999 when he was 79 yrs old. The attempt was organised by the Ipoh Hash House Harriers. He climbed succesfully to the height of 13,455 ft.



OLDEST TO CLIMB MOUNT KILIMANJARO

On August 31, 2003, the TNB 2003 National Day Kilimanjaro Expedition team ascended Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro when they scaled the 5,895 m Uruhu Peak after a 5-day trek. In the team was Tan Sri Dato’ Chan Chong Tak, aged 70, who is the oldest person to reach Uruhu Peak. On August 29, 2004, Tan Sri Dato’ Chan Chong Tak, at the age of 71, created another record for having climbed the 4,062.6 m King George Peak and Eastern Plateau of Mount. Kinabalu, Sabah, making him the oldest person to conquer King George Peak.




FIRST COUPLE TO TRAVEL AROUND THE GLOBE

Major (Rtd) Mohd Arshad Khan, 59, and wife Salina Abdullah, 56, travelled 40,727 km in seven months in their Toyota Landcruiser. They left Kuala Lumpur on September 19, 2002 and took in 24 countries on six continents before returning on April 14, 2003.



OLDEST TEAM TO COMPLETE A NORTH POLE EXPEDITION

Dato’ David Tan Hua Tong & Chua Yew Beng are the Oldest Team To Complete A North Pole Expedition. Dato’ David Tan H.T was 64 years 3 months at the time of the expedition, while Chua Yew Beng was 65 years and 8 months old. They were the first senior citizens to reach the North Pole sailing on board the Yamal. The expedition was from 14th -21st July 2004.



OLDEST TO TREK MT. EVEREST’S NORTH FACE

Retired consultant engineer Toh Ah See (born 6 November 1939) trekked 5,807 m up the seldom-scaled North face of Mt. Everest between September 8-12, 2003.



OLDEST TO GRADUATE IN MEDICINE

DR TSN Rathakrishnan gratuated in Medicine at the age of 64 in February, 2005 from the Melaka Manipal Medical College. He joined The Malacca Twinning Programme (MBBS) in October 1997. After a two and a half year course in Manipal, South India, he continued the remaining three and a half years in Melaka. He completed the course in December 2003 and finished his one year Internship.



OLDEST PRACTISING AIKIDO INSTRUCTOR

Thamby Rajah A/L Koppu is still teaching Aikido, a form of Martial Arts at age 80 at his dojo, “The Shudokan”, Institute of Akido in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.



FIRST WORLD PRESIDENT OF THE INTERNATIONAL REAL ESTATE FEDERATION

Dato’ Alan Tong kok Mau is the first Malaysian elected into office as the World President of the Real Estate Federation (FIABCI) at the age of 70 when he was elected on June 4, 2005 at the World Congress held in Athens, Greece.



OLDEST TO SCORE HOLE-IN-ONE

Dato’ H. M. Shah, 81, scored a hole-inone at the 7th hole of the Old Golf Course at the Royal Selangor Golf Club on May 8, 2002.



LONGEST SERVING TURF CLUB CHAIRMAN

Born in Ipoh, Perak on January 15, 1925, Tan Sri Dato’ V. David Jeyaratnam was elected as the Chairman of the Perak Turf Club in 1982 at the age of the 57, before which he had served on the committee
for 14 years. He continues to serve as Chairman to this day.
